Sandra Stocchi was born in Arezzo in 1961. She graduated from Accademia di Belle Arti  (Academy of Fine Arts) in Florence. Her first works were paintings on wooden bas-reliefs and later wooden and lead sculptures.

In the last few years, she has realized three-dimensional artworks employing the Raku pottery technique.

Her first exhibition was held in Florence in 1983. Since then she has exhibited her works in many art shows and installations in public spaces.

2010 - Contrasted/opposti itinerari - a solo exhibition “umano/sovraumano” of the seasonal art show organized by Arezzo’s city council under the artistic direction of Matilde Puleo.

2011 – ‘Lezioni di volo’  (Flight lessons). Within the project Amico Museo 2011, Region of Tuscany, Venturino Venturi Archive, she was invited by the artist’s granddaughter and art historian Lucia Fiaschi to exhibit in the CASA STUDIO VENTURI for the affinities found with the poetic heritage of the master.

2012 – ‘A colazione con l’orso’ (Breakfast with a Bear’) – An exhibition at Fortezza Girifalco, Cortona (Arezzo) where she engaged in a play of installations using different techniques and materials: ‘La cura dell’orso’  and ‘Il tempio’ (‘The Bear Therapy’and ‘The Temple’ - Raku pottery), ‘Pescatrici di perle’ (‘Pearl Fisherwomen’, paper), ‘Serendipity’ (collage and tempera). It is an itinerary through the naturally lit hypogeal spaces of the Cannoniera di S. Maria which encourages the observer’s intimate meditation.

2018 – ‘Corpo, albero/ellisse, tempio/ghirlanda’ (‘Body, tree/ellipse, temple/wreath’), a group of three solo exhibitions curated by Matilde Puleo. The art shows were set up in the halls of Museo Comunale dell’Albero d’Oro, Lucignano (Arezzo), in Cassero and Palazzo delle Logge del S. Savino, Monte San Savino (Arezzo).

Sandra Stocchi teaches Painting and Drawing at Liceo Artistico Piero della Francesca (Arezzo). She has implemented experimental learning activities and she has run workshops on expressiveness and comic book illustration techniques. In 1999, she was the creator of Associazione culturale ‘Il Romito’ (Arezzo), a cultural organization that promotes eco-friendly activities. She co-ordinated and promoted the organization activities until 2017.
